What a year we had in 2014! We had some amazing parties and got to work with some even more amazing clients. We have added a new talent to our team and DJ Charles has proven to be a valuable member of the Liquid Entertainment DJ team. Now that it’s at the end of January I can take a little breather and reflect on 2014.

Music is a passion of mine and is a one of the reasons I excel in what I do and allows me to bring a lot to the table for my clients. So, I would like to share a list of my personal top songs of 2014. Not in any particular order, just songs that for one reason or another I love.

Enrique Iglesias – Bailando (Español) ft. Descemer Bueno, Gente De Zona
I know I said no order but this has got to be my favorite jam from 2014. It’s such a fun song with a great video and you don’t need to know Spanish to groove to it. I should mention however, that I don’t really like the version of the song featuring Sean Paul so much.

Marianna’s Trench – POP 101
This is a very catchy song and sums up pop music rather intelligently.

Taylor Swift – Shake it Off
When this video was released there was a lot of controversy with regards to the imagery being racist. I don’t get it, but that’s just me. I have to admit that I am not really much of a Swift fan, but this song was just so catchy and the lyrics have a great message. I guess this song constitutes my guilty pleasure for the year.

Ed Sheeran – Don’t
A great song rumored to be written to be about Ellie Goulding. Regardless of whomever it is about, it has a great beat and awesome lyrics, “Don’t F#&$ with my heart.”

Clean Bandit ft. Jess Glynne – Rather Be
This has got to be my second favorite track of 2014. It reminds me of the old school dance music I used to spin and the infectious dance vocals similar to that of Ce Ce Penniston.

Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars – Uptown Funk
Very reminiscent of old school funk like George Clinton, Parliament, and One way. This track is amazing!

Calvin Harris ft. John Newman – Blame
It seems that everything Calvin Harris touches turns to gold. It is easy to see why he makes +45Mil a year. It was so hard for me to pick one track from 2014 of his, but here it is.

Meghan Trainor – All About the Bass
I am undecided about this one. Do I like it or is it annoying? Lol! it definitely was one of the most requested tracks of 2014, which is great because it has a very positive message.

John Legend – All of Me
This track was released late 2013, but it is such a great song and was widely used as a first dance song.

Dierks Bentley – Drunk on a plane
This is another fun song that reminds me of a great wedding I did this year. At the end of the night the groom was just throwing titles at me, including this jam. It was great, because everything I was laying down he and his guests were dancing to and singing to. It was amazing!

Ed Sheeran (yup, again!)– Thinking out Loud
This track was released late 2014, but I predict this will be a big first dance song for 2015 season.

As you can see my tastes in music vary a lot. It’s why I love and am talented at what I do! Friday, Saturday and Sunday weddings, our playlist are never the same. Each client is different, as well as their guests, and using this as the basis for our approach, our clients receive customized services that are second to none!
